Glamour

In normal context, “glamour” means something that is attractive or appealing.  In the context of Alice B. Bailey  “Glamour – a world problem”, glamour is a mental illusion intensified by desires, which clouds truth.  Meditation is a key method to release glamour, with Intuition, Illumination, Inspiration and the angel of presence being keynotes. Glamours are ancient categories via the Ray of light which you were born into.  You will relate more to the glamours under your Ray, however you may experience many.

Glamours are mostly associated with the third chakra, and the material world.  It is like a cloud and not of spirit.  As we clear them, more and more, the next generation won’t have to deal with them in the same way.  Hindrances – Glamours-astral or Illusions-mental or Maya-physical.  Great glamours to shift first, crictism, separateness, irration or over-sensitivity.

Examples of glamour’s suggested by Alice for each Ray: 1. Physical strength, personal magnetism, self-centredness, personal potency, the one at the centre, selfish personal ambition, rulership, dictatorship of control, messiah complex in politics, selfish destiny, destruction, isolation, superimposed will.  2. Love of being loved, popularity, wisdom, selfish responsibility, too complete an understanding, self-pity, messiah complex in religion, fear, overly sensitive, self-sacrifice, selfish, unselfishness, self-satisfaction, selfish service.  3. Being busy, cooperation with individual plan, active scheming, creative work without true motive, good intentions that are selfish, spider at the centre, God in the machine, devious, manipulation, self-importance from knowing or efficiency.  4. Harmony aimed at personal comfort, war, conflict with impose righteousness and peace, vague artistic perception, psychic perception instead of intuition, musical perception, higher pairs of opposites.  5. Materiality, intellect, knowledge, assurance narrow point of view, form hides reality, outer hides inner.  6. Devotion, adherence to forms/persons, idealism, loyalties, emotional response, sentimentality, interference, lower pairs of opposites, world saviours/teachers, narrow vision, fanaticism.  7. Magician work, relation of opposites, subterranean Powers, brings together, physical body, mysterious and secret, sex magic, emerging manifested forces.

Alice wrote this information in 1950, yet today 65years later it still holds unfolding information.  Intuition is light itself, illumination, understanding and is love.  On a global level, a glamour can be a universal pattern that needs to be cleared.  Meditation is the way to illumination and understanding.  Energy work opens the heart to love.
