Loss of a beloved pet

Loosing a beloved pet can be just as challenging, as any other loss.  It will always depend on your attachment to the pet, how your grieving process unfolds.  Emotions of denial, guilt, anger, and sadness, are all a part of the process.

Take the time to grieve the loss.  Know you always do the best with what you currently know, whether you are the one grieving, or you are trying to support a loved one.  Take a breath.  Grief is a process.

There are grief supports, and know there are recommended ways to support those grieving.  Finding the words to support can be unique to the person and their beliefs.  The process can be challenging for each individual.  Children need simple honesty, as they grief too.

If you are supporting a loved one, find ways to be gentle, compassionate, supportive and listen.

Missing you already, in memory of Delilah by Sharon McLaughlin June2015(c)

The time has flown so quickly, it seems like only yesterday,
That you came home with us, a bundle of fur, and play.
It didn’t take long for you to touch our heart,
To fill our days with happy memories right from the start.
You kept us company, in the good times and bad,
You made us laugh, you made us cry, you even made us mad.
Now you have left us, and moved through a new door,
We are missing you already, not seeing you resting on the floor.
You are welcome to visit, as now our spirit guide,
To watch over us and protect us, there is no need to hide.
We will remember you always with love,
Now looking down upon us from heaven above.
