Transmission

Out there, in the big wide world, there are a wide varied of teachers available on many subjects.  I have always believed that the more spiritual the teacher, then the teaching occurs through transmission of the highest energy vibration.  Although there maybe wise words, to me it is the energy vibration that makes the difference.

As the Guru Full moon arising I take this moment to send gratitude to every teacher/master/trainer I have worked with in this life, past and parallel lives.  To all that have shone a light into areas of me, that needed more light, I am grateful.  May the highest light shine out and touch each with gratitude.  We are all students and we are all teachers.  Thank you and blessings be.

Jack Kornfield in his audiobook “Transmission – receiving the living wisdom of spiritual teachers” talks about his experiences, with great truth, humour and wisdom.  I agree that whomever you choose as a teacher, you will learn what you need.  Know that there are a variety out there, and even some that have lost their way.  All are but lessons.

I love the story of how Jack was with one meditation master, and each day he would have a set time to see the master and he would ask the question “what is the sound of one hand clapping”and the master would repeat it back to him, and then he could say whatever came to him, and the master would reply.  He had been doing this for sometime, and was extremely frustrated, that he ended up saying the “F*** u” snuffed out the candle and rang the bell himself, and before he got to the door, the master said as he rang the bell, “no that is not the answer”.  To me this speaks of how the journey you will take with a teacher or master will not always be the journey you ‘think it ” will be.  Often a spiritual teachers role is to breakdown walls and barriers, and indeed the death of the ego, for the student to be reborn a master.

Jack talks of why a spiritual teacher is necessary.  I agree it is about finding a teacher that has already shifted to a higher level, and can assist their students upwards.   He talks from his own experience, with the wisdom of his teachers.

To hear Jack doing an impersonation of the Dalia Lama, will bring a grin to anyones face.   To me his impersonation sounds like Yoda from Star Wars, whom I love.  The next time I listen to the Dalia Lama, I will remember this.  Dali Lama suggests “if this then that, if not this, then not that”.  Break the cycle.

Many words of wisdom.  Suggestions for working with your difficulties and release attachment.  Surrender or die to truth.  To learn you need to empty your cup first.  10% outside focus and 90% inside focus.

I loved his comment of a Buddhist poet “greater vehicle, lesser vehicle, all vehicles will be towed at their own expense”.  I believe you will be called to your teacher.  Remember when the student is ready the teacher appears, when the teacher is ready you will be called.
