What is your coping strategy?
Everyone has their own ways of coping, whether you are aware or not. Simply, when we feel stressed, we turn to our coping strategies. These strategies can come from behaviours that can be good or bad for you, yet they will give you some form of pleasure to take away from the pain of whatever stresses you. So, what do you choose? Unconscious behaviour/reactions or Conscious Choices. When under stress, do you…. (become a something-‘holic’, a person that has an abnormal desire or dependence on….) examples: Food/ no food; Alcohol/ no drink; Exercise/ no exercise; Work/ no work; Shop/ no shop; Drugs/ no drugs (medical or other); Gambler/ no gambling etc. Humans are creatures of habit. A habit is a repeated pattern. Some patterns can assist us to become or react automatically. Some things can be helpful to be automatic, eg. Reading, writing, driving etc. The problem occurs when a habit become so automatic that there is no choice, just automatic reaction. Have you ever found yourself driving somewhere, but you have gone on automatic pilot and you have automatically driven to work, shops, school etc, which was not your intended destination. It is up to you to make a conscious choice, and choose coping strategies that are for the highest good for you. Example of higher coping strategies: Breathing techniques, Meditation, Conscious Movement, Energetic shifts, Release, CBT, etc WHAT will you choose?
